Does this plugin replace the standard BuddyPress Like button?

Section titled “Does this plugin replace the standard BuddyPress Like button?”

Only if you want it to. The Hide default Like/Favorite button toggle on the Settings tab is off by default, so reactions sit alongside the standard button. Turn it on and the React button replaces the Like or Favorite button; when a member reacts, any existing Like or Favorite record for that item is also removed so the counts do not overlap.

The plugin ships with 204 built-in emojis. Each content type shows a set of up to 8 of them.

Can I choose different emojis for different content types?

Section titled “Can I choose different emojis for different content types?”

Yes. On the Reactions tab, each content type (activities, activity comments, blog posts, forum topics, forum replies) has its own row of up to 8 slots that you fill from the emoji library.

The default is 8 per content type. Developers can change it with the buddypress_reactions_max_emojis filter.

Yes. Use the Manage Emojis tab to rename any emoji. The label appears in picker tooltips, the who-reacted popup, and the Reactions Log. Renaming changes only the text, not the emoji image.

Yes. When bbPress is active, a Forums tab appears where you can enable reactions on forum topics and replies. bbPress is optional - the rest of the plugin works without it.

Yes. BuddyBoss forum topics and replies are supported through the same Forums tab.

The plugin runs only on the BuddyX, BuddyX Pro, or Reign theme. It deactivates itself with an admin notice on any other theme.

No. The plugin is incompatible with Youzify and deactivates itself if Youzify is active.

No. Only logged-in members can add or remove reactions. Guests can see existing reactions and counts but cannot react.

Yes. Emojis render as Lottie animations by default and fall back to static SVG. Animation is configurable per content type (both the picker animation and the reacted-icon animation can be turned off).

When Send notifications for reactions is enabled on the Settings tab, the content author receives a standard BuddyPress notification whenever someone reacts to their activity post or comment.

Yes. The front end includes RTL support, and all strings are translatable through the buddypress-reactions text domain.

Where is reaction data stored, and can I remove it cleanly?

Section titled “Where is reaction data stored, and can I remove it cleanly?”

Reactions live in three custom tables ({prefix}bp_reactions_emojis, {prefix}bp_reactions_shortcodes, {prefix}bp_reactions_reacted_emoji). By default data is kept after uninstall. Enable Delete all data on uninstall on the Settings tab to drop the tables and options when you remove the plugin.

Can I add reactions to a custom post type?

Section titled “Can I add reactions to a custom post type?”

Yes. Use the [bp_reactions] shortcode in the template, or hook buddypress_reactions_default_post_types to seed a default set for your post type on activation. See the shortcode reference.
