Setting Up Notifications

Email and on-site notifications keep members and admins informed about posts submitted for review, approvals, co-author invitations, and more.

Requirements

• BuddyPress or BuddyBoss Platform (for on-site notifications)
• Notifications component active
• Working WordPress email configuration

Notification Types

Configuring Admin Notifications

1. Go to Member Blog → Notifications
2. Enable Notify Admins on New Posts
3. Select which admins should receive notifications in Admin Recipients
4. Save changes

Configuring Member Notifications

1. Go to Member Blog → Notifications
2. Enable Notify Members on Approval
3. Members will receive email and on-site notifications when posts are approved

Email Templates

Customize email content for each notification type using these placeholders:

Placeholder	Output
{site_name}	Your WordPress site name
{site_admin}	Admin email address
{blog_name}	Post title
{blog_content}	Post content excerpt
{publisher_name}	Author’s display name
{post_link}	URL to the post
{approval_link}	Link to approve the post (admin emails)

On-Site Notifications

Members see notifications in their BuddyPress notification area:

• Notification Bell – Appears in header/toolbar with unread count
• Click to view – Shows recent notifications
• Clickable links – Each notification links to the relevant post

Notifications are optimized for the BuddyBoss mobile app:

Member Notification Preferences

Members can control their notification settings:

1. Go to profile Settings → Notifications
2. Find Member Blog section
3. Toggle individual notification types on or off
4. Save preferences

Troubleshooting

Issue	Solution
Emails not sending	Check WordPress email configuration (install SMTP plugin)
Admin not receiving	Verify admin is checked in Admin Recipients
Member opted out	Check member’s notification preferences
No on-site notifications	Ensure BuddyPress Notifications component is active
