What Are Featured Posts?

Featured posts are pinned to the top of a group’s Blog tab. They stay at the top regardless of publish date, making them perfect for:

  • Important announcements – Keep critical information visible
  • Resource guides – Pin getting-started content
  • Exemplary work – Showcase standout member contributions
  • Rules and guidelines – Keep community standards visible

How to Feature a Post

Only group administrators can feature posts.

  1. Navigate to your group’s page
  2. Click the Blog tab
  3. Find the post you want to feature
  4. Click the star icon (or “Feature” link) on the post
  5. The post immediately moves to the top

What Happens When You Feature a Post

  • Post moves to the top of the Blog tab
  • A “Featured” badge appears on the post
  • Post stays at top until unfeatured
  • Multiple posts can be featured at once

How to Unfeature a Post

  1. Go to the group’s Blog tab
  2. Find the featured post (at the top with the badge)
  3. Click the star icon again (or “Unfeature” link)
  4. Post returns to its normal position based on publish date

How Featured Posts Display

On the group’s Blog tab, featured posts:

  • Appear in a highlighted section at the top
  • Show a “Featured” badge or indicator
  • Are sorted by the date they were featured (newest featured first)
  • Regular posts appear below in chronological order

Use Cases

Community News Group

Feature important announcements so members always see them first when visiting the group.

Course/Learning Groups

Instructors can feature exemplary student work to inspire others, or pin course materials and assignments.

Support/Help Groups

Feature FAQ posts or getting-started guides so new members find help immediately.

Contest/Challenge Groups

Feature contest rules initially, then feature winning entries when the contest ends.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Don’t over-feature – Too many featured posts reduces their impact. Stick to 2-3 maximum.
  • Rotate featured content – Periodically review and update which posts are featured.
  • Use for timely content – Feature event announcements before the event, then unfeature after.
  • Combine with announcements – For critical updates, also post in the group activity for immediate visibility.
