Analytics Dashboard

Time to read: 6 minutes

See which features your users want most, track engagement trends, and make informed decisions about what to build next. The analytics dashboard gives you a clear picture of how your roadmap is performing.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to open the analytics dashboard
  • Finding which features to prioritize
  • Tracking whether engagement is growing or declining
  • Filtering analytics by product and time period
  • Exporting reports for your team or stakeholders

Opening the Dashboard

  1. Go to Roadmap > Analytics in the WordPress admin
  2. The dashboard loads with your current data

You see four sections:

  • Overview cards at the top — key numbers at a glance
  • Charts in the middle — visual trends
  • Popular items — your most-voted features
  • Recent activity — what’s happening right now

Finding Which Features to Build Next

The Popular Items table shows your top 10 most-voted roadmap items. This is the most actionable part of the dashboard.

How to use it:

  1. Look at the top 5 items — these are what your users want most
  2. Click any item title to go directly to its edit screen
  3. Check both vote count and comment count — items with many comments often have the strongest demand

Weekly routine:

  1. Review the top 5 items
  2. Move high-voted items that are still “Planned” to “In Progress”
  3. Respond to comments on popular items
  4. Update progress on items you’re working on

Tracking Engagement Over Time

Are People Using Your Roadmap?

The overview cards give you a quick health check:

CardWhat It Tells You
Total ItemsHow large your roadmap is
Total VotesOverall engagement level — are people voting?
Total CommentsHow much discussion is happening
Active UsersHow many unique people are participating

Is Engagement Growing or Declining?

The Votes Over Time chart shows daily vote counts as a line graph. Look for:

  • Upward trend — Your roadmap is getting more popular. Keep promoting it.
  • Spikes — Something went viral or you ran a promotion. Note what worked.
  • Flat line — Engagement is stable. Consider adding new items or sharing the roadmap more widely.
  • Downward trend — Interest is declining. Re-engage your community, add fresh items, or update stale ones.

Is Your Workflow Balanced?

The Status Distribution chart (doughnut) shows how many items are in each status. Watch for:

  • 60%+ in “Planned” — You have a backlog piling up. Review and start work on top items, or archive low-priority ones.
  • Very few “Completed” — Users may feel nothing is being delivered. Focus on completing and marking items done.
  • Balanced spread — Healthy! Items are moving through your workflow.

Filtering Your View

By Product

If you manage multiple products, filter analytics to see data for just one:

  1. Click the Product dropdown at the top
  2. Select a specific product or “All Products”
  3. All charts and tables update instantly

This is useful for comparing how different products are performing or preparing a report for a specific product team.

By Time Period

Choose how far back to look:

PeriodBest For
7 daysWeekly team standups
30 daysMonthly reviews (default)
90 daysQuarterly planning sessions
1 yearAnnual trend analysis
  1. Click the Period dropdown
  2. Select your time range
  3. All data updates

Refreshing Data

Click the Refresh button to reload the latest data. Use this after making bulk changes, before meetings, or to see the most recent votes.

Exporting Reports

Share roadmap insights with your team or stakeholders:

  1. Set your filters (product, time period)
  2. Click the Export button
  3. A CSV file downloads automatically

The export includes all visible metrics, chart data, item lists with vote counts, and activity logs. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets for further analysis.

Use exports for:

  • Team presentations
  • Stakeholder updates
  • Historical tracking (export monthly and compare)

Monitoring Recent Activity

The Recent Activity table shows the last 20 things that happened on your roadmap:

Activity TypeWhat It Means
VoteSomeone voted on an item
CommentA new comment was posted
Status ChangeAn item moved to a different status
CreatedA new item was added

Check this before meetings to see what’s been happening, or monitor it after launching a new feature to gauge response.

Common Scenarios and What to Do

“I have lots of votes but nothing is getting built”

Your users are engaged but feel ignored. Fix this by:

  1. Move your top 3 voted items to “In Progress”
  2. Update progress regularly so users see movement
  3. Complete at least one highly-voted item to build trust

“Nobody is voting on my roadmap”

Your roadmap needs promotion. Try:

  1. Share the roadmap link in your app, newsletter, or social media
  2. Add new items that users care about
  3. Enable the Feedback Widget so users can suggest ideas from any page

“Everything is stuck in Planned”

Your workflow is bottlenecked. Fix this by:

  1. Be realistic — archive items you won’t build
  2. Move items you’re actually working on to “In Progress”
  3. Mark completed items as “Completed” (users love seeing progress)

Best Practices

Review Schedule

  • Weekly: Check popular items, review recent activity, respond to comments
  • Monthly: Export data, analyze trends, adjust priorities, share with your team
  • Quarterly: Look at long-term trends, compare products, do strategic planning

Making Data-Driven Decisions

  • Before building: Check vote counts and read comments to validate demand
  • During development: Update progress so users know you’re working on it
  • After completing: Mark as completed, thank voters, measure the impact

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure you have roadmap items created
