Members Restrictions – BuddyPress Moderation Pro

The Members Restrictions section in BuddyPress Moderation Pro allows admins to manage moderation settings and consequences for community members based on their activities and reports received. Here’s how you can configure these options.

1. Enabling Automatic Moderation for Members

Option: Enable Automatic Moderation

  • Purpose: Automatically subjects newly registered members to a moderation process to ensure compliance with community standards before they can fully participate.
  • How It Works: New members will be placed under moderation when enabled. Their profiles or activities may not be visible until they pass moderation.

Steps to Enable:

  1. Navigate to BuddyPress Moderation Pro Settings in the WordPress dashboard.
  2. In the Members Restrictions section, check the option for Enable Automatic Moderation.
  3. Save your settings.

2. Setting Consequences for Reported Members

Option: Consequences for Reported Members

  • Purpose: Defines penalties for members who other users have flagged. These penalties can limit their visibility based on who reported them.
  • How It Works: Depending on your selection, reported members may be hidden from directories for specific groups of users, such as the reporters or all users.

Available Actions:

You can select one or more actions to apply to reported members:

  • Remove from Friends List: Automatically removes the reported member from all friends lists.
  • Hide Profile: Hides the reported member’s profile from view for certain groups.
  • Block Activities: Blocks the member from posting activities temporarily.

Steps to Configure:

  1. Navigate to BuddyPress Moderation Pro Settings in the WordPress dashboard.
  2. Under Consequences for Reported Members, select the actions you wish to apply to reported members.
  3. Save your settings.

3. Displaying a Custom Account Lock Message

Option: Account Lock Message

  • Purpose: This function displays a notification on the WordPress login screen to users whose accounts have been locked by the admin.
  • How It Works: When an account is locked due to moderation, the message you set here will be shown to the user when they attempt to log in.

Steps to Set a Custom Message:

  1. Navigate to BuddyPress Moderation Pro Settings in the WordPress dashboard.
  2. Under Account Lock Message, enter your custom message. For example, “Your account is temporarily deactivated by the site admin.”
  3. Save your settings.

4. Enabling Member Blocking

Option: Enable Member Blocking

  • Purpose: Allows the admin or other members to block users. When a member is blocked, they are removed from friends lists, and their profile and activities are hidden.
  • How It Works: Once this option is enabled, members can block each other, which results in immediate removal from friends lists and hidden content.

Steps to Enable:

  1. Navigate to BuddyPress Moderation Pro Settings in the WordPress dashboard.
  2. Under Enable Member Blocking, toggle the option to activate this feature.
  3. Save your settings.
