How to create a quiz

For creating a quiz head towards
Dashboard >> LearnDash LMS >> Quizzes

Start with entering the title and description if any. If you want to categorise your quiz make a quiz category before. You will get nine settings options for quizzes we will discuss one by one each in this documentation.

1)  LearnDash quiz settings you will get following options inside it:

Quiz Materials – Options for Quiz materials.

Repeats – Allows you to set a number of repeats allowed for a quiz. Blank = unlimited attempts. 0 = 1 attempt, 1 = 2 attempts, etc.

Certificate Threshold – Allows you to set a minimum score required to award a certificate, between 0 and 1 where 1 = 100%.

Passing Percentage – Allows you to set a passing percentage required to pass the quiz (number only). e.g. 80 for 80%.

Associated Course – Allows you to select a corresponding course.

Associated Lesson – Allows you to select a corresponding Lesson.

Associated Certificate – Allows you to select a corresponding certificated if any.

 

2) LearnDash quiz advanced settings options:

Hide quiz title – The title serves as quiz heading.

Hide the “Restart quiz” button – Hide the “Restart quiz” button in the Frontend.

Hide “View question” button – Hide the “View question” button in the Frontend.

Display inquest randomly – If it is activated then questions will be displayed randomly.

Display answers randomly – If it activated then the answers will be displayed randomly.

Sort questions by category – Also work in conjunction with the “display randomly question” option.

Time limit – Allows you to set the time limit for a particular quiz.

Protect Quiz Answers in Browser Cookie – 0 = Don’t save answers. This option will save the user’s answers into a browser cookie until the Quiz is submitted.

Statistics – Statistics about right or wrong answers. Statistics will be saved by completed quiz, not after every question. The statistics are only visible over the administration menu. (internal statistics)

Statistics IP-lock – Protect the statistics from spam. The result will only be saved every X minutes from the same IP. (0 = deactivated)

View Profile Statistics – Enable user to view statistics for this quiz on their profile.

Execute quiz only once – If you activate this option, the user can complete the quiz only once. Afterwards, the quiz is blocked for this user.

Show only specific number of questions – If you enable this option, a maximum number of displayed questions will be X from X questions. (The output of questions is random)

Prerequisites – If you enable this option, you can choose a quiz, which user has to finish before he can start this quiz. In all selected quizzes statistic function have to be active. If it is not it will be activated automatically.

Question overview – Add at the top of the quiz a question overview, which allows easy navigation. Additional questions can be marked “to review”. Additional quiz overview will be displayed before the quiz is finished.

Admin e-mail notification – If you enable this option, you will be informed if a user completes this quiz.
E-Mail settings can be edited in global settings.

User e-mail notification – If you enable this option, an email is sent with his course result to the user. (only registered users) E-Mail settings can be edited in global settings.

Autostart – If you enable this option, the quiz will start automatically after the page is loaded.

Only registered users are allowed to start the quiz – If you enable this option, only registered users allowed start the quiz.

 

3) LearnDash quiz question settings options:

Show points – Shows in a quiz, how many points are reachable for a respective question.

Number answers – If this option is activated, all answers are numbered (only single and multiple choice).

Hide correct- and incorrect message – If you enable this option, no correct- or incorrect message will be displayed.

Correct and incorrect answer mark – If you enable this option, answers won’t be colour highlighted as correct or incorrect.

Force user to answer each question – If you enable this option, the user is forced to answer each question.
If the option “Question overview” is activated, this notification will appear after the end of the quiz, otherwise after each question.

Hide question position overview – If you enable this option, the question position overview is hidden.

Hide question numbering – If you enable this option, the question numbering is hidden.

Display category – If you enable this option, the category will be displayed in the question.

 

4) LearnDash quiz results settings options:

Show average points – Statistics-function must be enabled.

Show category score – If you enable this option, the results of each category is displayed on the results page.

Hide correct questions – If you select this option, no longer the number of correctly answered questions are displayed on the results page.

Hide quiz time – If you enable this option, the time for finishing the quiz won’t be displayed on the results page anymore.

Hide score – If you enable this option, the final score won’t be displayed on the results page anymore.

 

5) LearnDash quiz mode settings here you will get the following four options to select:

Normal – Displays all questions sequentially, “right” or “false” will be displayed at the end of the quiz.

Normal + Back-Button – Allows using the back button in a question.

Check -> continue – Shows “right or wrong” after each question.

Questions below each other – If this option is activated, all answers are displayed below each other, i.e. all questions are on a single page.

 

6) LearnDash quiz result text settings:

Results text (optional) – This text will be displayed at the end of the quiz (in results). (this text is optional)

 

7) LearnDash quiz template settings:

Use template – Select a template to load.
Save a template – Select a template to save or create new for quiz page.

 

8) LearnDash quiz Leaderboard settings:

Leaderboard – You will get an option to activate it. The leaderboard allows users to enter results in public list and to share the result this way. The leaderboard works independently from internal statistics function.

 

9) LearnDash quiz custom fields settings:

You can create custom fields, e.g. to request the name or the e-mail address of the users.
The statistic function has to be enabled.

Custom fields enable – If you enable this option, custom fields are enabled.

Display position – Here you will get two options to choose from as per your requirement where should the fields be displayed:
a) on the quiz start page.
b) At the end of the quiz (before the quiz result).

Create field – Allows you to create a field by entering a name, type and a check option to confirm whether the field is required or not.

 

You will also get an option of creating and assigning a question to a quiz visually. Learndash from version 2.5.0 provides an option of a drag and drop quiz builder.
