Menu & Navigation Settings

Menu Options controls which sidebar tabs each type of user sees on the dashboard. You can show or hide any tab for any role without touching any code.

How to access: Go to WordPress Admin > LearnDash Dashboard > Menu Options.


How It Works

The page shows one collapsible panel per user role. Inside each panel, every tab available to that role is listed with a checkbox.

  • Check a tab to show it in the sidebar for that role
  • Uncheck a tab to hide it
  • Use Select All / Deselect All at the top of each panel to toggle all tabs at once

Changes take effect immediately after saving. No cache clear is needed.


User Roles

AdministratorFull access to all tabs
InstructorCourse management tabs included. Groups tab not available.
Group LeaderCourse management tabs available only when the LearnDash group management setting is enabled. Monetization tabs not available.
StudentCourse management, reports, monetization, groups, and the Email tab are not available to this role.

Available Tabs

My Dashboard (all roles)

These tabs are available to every user type:

  • Dashboard Home
  • Profile
  • Enrolled Courses
  • Quiz Attempts
  • Activity Feed (if not disabled globally)
  • Announcements
  • My Certificates
  • My Assignments
  • Time Tracking (students)

Course Management (instructors, admins, group leaders)

These tabs are for managing course content:

  • Courses — view and manage courses
  • Lessons — view and manage lessons
  • Topics — view and manage topics
  • Quizzes — view and manage quizzes
  • Questions — view and manage questions
  • Assignments — manage assignment submissions
  • Certificates — manage certificates
  • Announcements — post announcements to students
  • Groups — manage learner groups (admins and group leaders only)
  • Zoom Meetings — schedule and manage Zoom meetings (requires Zoom integration to be active)

Reports (instructors, admins, group leaders)

  • Essay Report
  • Assignment Report
  • Quiz Report
  • Insights
  • Bulk Management

Communication (admins, instructors)

  • Email — send emails to enrolled students
  • Private Messages — requires Private Messaging to be enabled in General Settings

Earnings (instructors only)

  • My Students — view enrolled students
  • Earnings — view commission history (requires Monetization to be enabled)

Group Leader Course Access

Group leaders can only see course management tabs when the LearnDash group leader course management setting is set to “basic” or “advanced.” Configure this in LearnDash LMS > Settings > Groups.

If course management is not enabled for group leaders in LearnDash, the course management tabs will not appear for them regardless of your Menu Options settings.


Saving Your Settings

Click Save Changes to apply your menu configuration. Click Reset Settings to restore all menus to their default visible state.
