The Group Restrictions settings in BuddyPress Moderation Pro allow admins to manage how groups are moderated and flagged within the community. These options provide control over automatic moderation for new groups and penalties for flagged groups. Below is a guide to configuring these options.
1. Enabling Automatic Moderation for Groups
Option: Enable Automatic Moderation
- Purpose: Automatically subjects newly created groups to a moderation process before they become active within the community.
- How It Works: When this feature is enabled, newly created groups will be placed under moderation, preventing them from becoming publicly visible until they have been reviewed and approved by an admin or moderator.
Steps to Enable:
- Navigate to BuddyPress Moderation Pro Settings in the WordPress dashboard.
- In the Group Restrictions section, check the option for Enable Automatic Moderation.
- Save your settings.
2. Setting Consequences for Reported Groups
Option: Consequences for Reported Groups
- Purpose: Defines penalties for groups that have been flagged for inappropriate content or behavior, with the ability to control who can see or interact with those groups.
- How It Works: Once a group is flagged, the selected restrictions will be applied. Depending on the hide mode selected, reported groups can be hidden from certain users, such as the reporters or all site members.
Available Actions:
You can select one or more actions to apply to flagged groups:
- Hide from Directory: The group will be hidden from the group directory.
- Block Group Creation: Prevents the group creator from making any new groups.
- Suspend Group Activity: Temporarily suspends the group’s ability to post new content or activities.
Steps to Configure:
- Navigate to BuddyPress Moderation Pro Settings in the WordPress dashboard.
- Under Consequences for Reported Groups, select the actions you wish to apply to flagged groups.
- Save your settings.
3. Viewing Moderated Groups
Once groups are flagged or placed under moderation, you can view and manage them from the Moderation Report Log.
- Moderated Groups: Groups placed under automatic moderation or flagged for review will appear in the Moderation Report Log.
- Navigate to: Moderation Pro > Report Log in the WordPress admin dashboard.
- From here, you can review flagged or moderated groups and take necessary actions, such as approving or suspending them.
By configuring these group moderation settings, site admins can ensure that newly created and reported groups comply with the community guidelines, helping maintain a healthy and safe environment for all users.
