Find answers to common questions about BuddyPress Moderation Pro.

Can I moderate content without user reports?

Yes. You can manually review and moderate any content through the WordPress admin. Navigate to individual activities, groups, or members and take moderation actions directly without needing a user report.

Can users appeal suspensions?

Not automatically. Users must contact site admins directly. Consider:

  1. Creating a contact form for appeals
  2. Providing a support email address
  3. Using BuddyPress private messages for communication

How long are reports kept?

Indefinitely by default. Reports remain in the system until manually deleted by an administrator. This provides a full history of moderation actions for reference.

Can I export report data?

Yes. You can export moderation reports and analytics through the WordPress admin or using WP-CLI commands for bulk exports in CSV format.

What happens to content when a user is suspended?

Content remains visible unless:

  • Individual content items are marked as spam
  • User is marked as spammer (all content hidden)
  • You choose to delete specific content items

Can I customize report reasons?

Yes. Navigate to: WB Plugins → Moderation Pro → Categorize By Report

Here you can add, edit, or remove the report categories that users can select when flagging content.

Do suspended users receive notifications?

Depends on settings. Configure notification preferences in: WB Plugins → Moderation Pro → General

You can enable or disable:

  • Suspension notifications
  • Avatar rejection notifications
  • Report status updates

Can I moderate without email notifications?

Yes. Disable email notifications in settings if preferred. You’ll need to check the admin panel regularly for new reports and pending items.

Is there a moderation log?

Yes. All moderation actions are tracked and logged. View the complete history in:

  • Individual report pages
  • User activity logs
  • The main Report Log screen

Can multiple admins moderate?

Yes. All users with the appropriate capabilities can access moderation features. WordPress tracks:

  • Who approved or rejected content
  • Who suspended users
  • When actions were taken

What BuddyPress components are supported?

The plugin supports moderation for:

  • Activity updates
  • Activity comments
  • Member profiles
  • Groups
  • Private messages
  • Forum topics (with bbPress)
  • Forum replies (with bbPress)

Does the plugin work with BuddyBoss?

Yes. BuddyPress Moderation Pro is compatible with BuddyBoss Platform and BuddyBoss themes.

How do I set up auto-moderation?

  1. Navigate to WB Plugins → Moderation Pro → Restrictions
  2. Enable auto-moderation
  3. Set the report threshold (number of reports needed)
  4. Choose what happens when threshold is reached (hide content, notify admin, etc.)

Can members block each other?

Yes. Members can block other users from:

  • Viewing their profile
  • Sending private messages
  • Seeing their activities

Blocked users cannot interact with the person who blocked them.
