The Manage tab allows administrators to view, search, and manage all hashtags in the database.
Location: WB Plugins > BuddyPress Hashtag > Manage
Hashtag Index
View all hashtags stored in the database:
| Column | Description |

| Hashtag | The hashtag name (without #) |
| Type | Content type (activity, bbpress, post, page) |
| Count | Number of times used |
| Last Used | Timestamp of last use |
Searching Hashtags
Use the search box to find specific hashtags:
- Enter hashtag name (partial or full)
- Click “Search” or press Enter
- Results show matching hashtags
Search tips: Search is case-insensitive, partial matches supported, filter by content type for faster results.
Deleting Hashtags
Delete Single Hashtag
- Find the hashtag in the list
- Click the “Delete” button next to it
- Confirm deletion
Bulk Delete
- Select multiple hashtags using checkboxes
- Click “Bulk Actions” dropdown
- Select “Delete”
- Click “Apply”
- Confirm deletion
Delete by Type
Clear all hashtags of a specific type:
- Click “Clear BuddyPress Hashtags” – Removes all activity hashtags
- Click “Clear bbPress Hashtags” – Removes all forum hashtags
- Click “Clear Post Hashtags” – Removes all blog post hashtags
- Click “Clear Page Hashtags” – Removes all page hashtags
Warning: These actions are permanent and cannot be undone.
What Deletion Does
When you delete a hashtag:
- Removes the hashtag from the database
- Removes it from widgets and shortcode displays
- Removes it from autocomplete suggestions
- Does NOT modify existing post content
When to Delete Hashtags
Common reasons:
- Spam hashtags created by bots
- Typos or misspellings
- Inappropriate content that slipped through
- Outdated or irrelevant hashtags
- Test hashtags from development
Database Maintenance
Periodically review and clean your hashtag database:
- Remove hashtags with 0-1 usage (likely tests/typos)
- Merge similar hashtags by deleting variants
- Remove outdated event hashtags
- Delete spam or inappropriate hashtags
Export Before Cleanup
Before major cleanup operations:
- Go to Statistics tab
- Export all hashtag data
- Save backup file
- Then proceed with deletion
