Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Q: Do hashtags work immediately after activation?
Yes. Once activated, hashtags work automatically in all enabled content types. No additional configuration required.
Q: Do I need BuddyPress for this plugin?
You need either BuddyPress OR bbPress. The plugin supports BuddyPress only, bbPress only, both together, or either one plus WordPress blog features.
Hashtag Format
Q: Can I use spaces in hashtags?
No. Spaces end the hashtag. Use underscores or hyphens instead: #social_media or #social-media.

Q: Can I use emoji in hashtags?
Yes, if you enable “International Language Support” in General Settings.
Following Hashtags
Q: How do I unfollow a hashtag?
Go to Profile > Settings > Hashtags, find the hashtag, and click “Unfollow” or the delete icon.
Q: Where do I see content from hashtags I follow?
Go to your profile and click the “Followed Hashtags” tab.
Administration
Q: How do I delete a hashtag completely?
Go to WB Plugins > BuddyPress Hashtag > Manage. Search and delete. This removes it from the database but doesn’t modify existing posts.
